PARC, a Xerox Company

PARC-2PARC (formerly known as the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center) is a research and development company.  It is know for important contributions to printer technology, computer networking, personal computing, object-oriented programming, and graphic user interfaces.

Apple Computer’s Macintosh, the first commercial computer to feature a desktop metaphor and a graphic user interface, was inspired by a visit to PARC by Apple founder Steve Jobs.
