The company was founded by Reid Hoffman and founding team members from PayPal.  Hoffman now serves as chairman of the board of directors.

The company’s headquarters includes a number of buildings on Stierlin Court in Mountain View; the buildings were originally built and occupied by Silicon Graphics (SGI) before than company’s decline and downsizing.
